Le Grand Action is an independent art house cinema on Rue des Écoles in the Latin Quarter, in the 5th arrondissement, and a member of the Cinémas Indépendants Parisiens group. Alongside its regular programme it hosts a number of ciné-clubs run by different groups, among them a Nordic ciné-club and Écrans d'Afrique. Le Grand Action marks its sessions with labels such as VF and VOSF, which do not by themselves mean English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
There are three rooms. Salle 1 (Henri Langlois) has 237 seats in tiers and a ten-metre panoramic screen; Salle 2 (Kelly Reichardt) is on the ground floor with 78 seats; Salle 3 (Paul Vecchiali) has 27. The cinema lists Salles 2 and 3, but not Salle 1, as accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Le Grand Action lists the Jussieu, Cardinal Lemoine and Maubert-Mutualité metro stations on its location page. Some films have subtitles for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers, which have to be requested at the front desk before the session starts, and some have an audio-description track for blind and partially sighted viewers, played through a smartphone app downloaded in advance. The accessibility page lists which films and explains how.
