Espace Saint-Michel is an art-house cinema on place Saint-Michel in the 5th arrondissement, showing auteur films, classic and contemporary, from around the world. The cinema traces its history back to 1911. After an attack in October 1988 destroyed it completely, the cinema was revived, and in 1991 its bar, Les Affiches, was given a wall of posters from 48 films shown there. Alongside regular screenings it hosts previews, screenings with debates and other events, and it has a club space for debates and meetings.
There are two rooms, with 120 and 90 seats. The bar gives its own address as 4 rue de la Harpe. The cinema lists Saint-Michel station, on metro line 4 and RER B, and buses 21, 27, 38 and 96.
Espace Saint-Michel's own programme includes many French films and films in other languages. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
