La Filmothèque du Quartier Latin is an art-house cinema on rue Champollion, in the Sorbonne student quarter of the 5th arrondissement. Its programme alternates reissues of classics and rediscovered films, often in restored versions, with retrospectives and festivals, ranging across periods, genres and continents. Guests such as artists and critics appear at some screenings, and the cinema shows no on-screen advertising.
The two rooms are named after Marilyn Monroe, in the red room, and Audrey Hepburn, in the blue room. The cinema says it is equipped to project films in 4K digital. For getting there, the Filmothèque lists Cluny La Sorbonne (metro line 10) and Odéon (metro line 4), Saint-Michel Notre-Dame and Luxembourg on RER B, and buses stopping at Les Écoles and Cluny. It also names the Indigo Soufflot-Panthéon and Saemes Odéon École de Médecine car parks.
Much of the Filmothèque's own programme is in French or other languages. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
