L'Escurial is a Dulac Cinémas venue at 11 boulevard de Port-Royal, in the Gobelins quarter of the 13th arrondissement. It opened in 1911, and Dulac calls it L'Escurial Panorama in its history of the cinema. In 1981, when small Paris cinemas were struggling, it was saved by a group of young film enthusiasts who turned it towards art house programming and original-version screenings. It is classed Art et Essai, and Dulac Cinémas runs it as one of five cinemas in Paris in a network it describes as devoted to independent cinema.
For public transport, Dulac lists Gobelins on Metro line 7; its access page has the address and Metro details. Dulac lists audio-description headsets, hearing assistance and subtitles for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers on request for some films, and says guide dogs are welcome. It gives no step-free access details for the rooms here, so check with the cinema if that matters. Dulac says seats are generally not numbered.
Dulac's own listings mark screenings VF or VOSTFR. Neither label by itself means English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
