The Cinéma du Panthéon is a single-screen arthouse cinema on Rue Victor-Cousin in the 5th arrondissement, a few minutes' walk from the Panthéon, the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Sorbonne. Its own history dates the room to February 1907, when Omnia-Pathé turned a former gymnasium into a cinema, and notes that producer Pierre Braunberger ran it for sixty years from 1930. Since 2001 it has belonged to Why Not Productions. Alongside current releases it hosts ciné-clubs, debates and special screenings, and Le Salon, a lounge above the room decorated by Catherine Deneuve and Christian Sapet, serves lunch and tea.
For public transport, the cinema lists RER B at Luxembourg, metro line 10 at Cluny-Sorbonne, metro line 4 at Saint-Michel and Odéon, and several bus lines; it also points to the Soufflot-Panthéon car park about 50 metres away. The cinema states that it cannot accommodate visitors who cannot get around without a wheelchair. Audio-description and sound-enhancement headsets are lent on request at reception. The access page has the address and transport details.
The programme includes Lost in Frenchlation screenings, which the cinema presents as screenings with English subtitles; English subtitles do not mean English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
