Le Grand Rex is a cinema and concert venue on Boulevard Poissonnière, on the Grands Boulevards in the 2nd arrondissement. It describes itself as an Art Deco building dating from 1932 and listed as a historic monument. Besides films, its programme takes in concerts, shows, premieres and film marathons.
The Great Hall has 2,702 seats, a stage and the Grand Large screen, which measures 24.90 by 11.35 metres. For Grand Large screenings only the upper level is used, because the whole screen cannot be seen from the ground floor. The other rooms are smaller, with between 100 and 500 seats, among them the Salle Infinite. Le Grand Rex marks its sessions with labels such as VF and VOST, which do not by themselves mean English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
Le Grand Rex lists Bonne Nouvelle station on metro lines 8 and 9. It says that, because of the building's age and architecture, only the Great Hall and Rex 5 are accessible to people with reduced mobility, and that it has no audio description system. For films, entry is allowed until 10 minutes after the start.
