L'Archipel is a cinema and theatre at 17 boulevard de Strasbourg in the 10th arrondissement. The building was a café-concert, Le Concert de la Ville Japonaise, at the end of the 19th century, and today its two rooms are used for both film and stage, with concerts, theatre and comedy alongside the cinema programme. The cinema is classed Art et Essai, is one of the Cinémas Indépendants Parisiens and is a member of the Groupement National des Cinémas de Recherche. Its programme centres on auteur films, with meetings with filmmakers and critics, and children's screenings with activities.
The Salle Bleue has 112 seats on the ground floor, is accessible to people with reduced mobility and has both digital and 35 mm projection. The Salle Rouge is in the basement and is reached by a staircase with a handrail. For getting there, L'Archipel lists Strasbourg Saint-Denis on Metro lines 4, 8 and 9, car parks at Gare de l'Est and Sainte Apolline, and a Vélib' station 50 metres away; its access page has the details.
L'Archipel's own programme includes French films and films in other languages. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
