Superman

If you're a fan of superheroes with heart, action, and a dash of cosmic weirdness, Superman (2025) might just be your new favorite. Directed and written by James Gunn, this reboot kicks off the new DC Universe with a fresh take on the iconic Man of Steel. David Corenswet steps into the cape as Clark Kent/Superman, a journalist in Metropolis trying to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. It’s a story about identity, values, and what it means to be good in a complicated world.
This version of Superman is earnest, colorful, and packed with personality. Corenswet brings a grounded charm to the role, portraying a Superman who’s still figuring things out—especially when it comes to love, ethics, and his place among other heroes. Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, a sharp and skeptical reporter who challenges Clark both professionally and personally. Their chemistry is a highlight, with witty banter and emotional depth that fans of classic screwball comedies will appreciate.
The film doesn’t shy away from big ideas or big action. Superman finds himself in hot water after intervening in an international conflict, which sets off a chain of events involving Lex Luthor (played with icy intensity by Nicholas Hoult), a kaiju attack, and a mysterious clone named Ultraman. Along the way, Superman teams up with a quirky crew of heroes known as the Justice Gang, including Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, and Metamorpho. Oh, and there’s also Krypto, his superpowered dog, who steals more than a few scenes.
Superman is packed with characters and ideas, which some viewers might find overwhelming. If you're looking for a tight, focused story, this might feel a bit overstuffed. But if you're into world-building, ensemble casts, and seeing a superhero wrestle with real moral dilemmas, there's a lot to enjoy here.
Critics have mostly praised the film for its heart, humor, and performances, especially from Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Hoult. It’s a movie that respects the legacy of Superman while pushing the character into new territory. Whether you're a longtime fan or just looking for a fun, thoughtful blockbuster, this Superman flies high. Just don’t expect a simple good-vs-evil tale—this one’s got layers.
